Re: Origin of Alice eye make-up?

..........the lines coming out if the corners of the mouth were to look like the lines on a ventriloquist's dummy.

Wow : 40 yrs on , and that theory NEVER crossed my mind ....

That's fascinating , and I'll look at it completely differently now .

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute

Ive always felt that HEY BULLDOG was a bit of a disappointment .... ALICE has done some great " rrrrrrawk" vocals in recent years , but that ain't one of them ..... I'm certain ERZIN , MARLETTE , etc wouldn't have let that rather average vocal go on an album , .... ......which gives the impression t...

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute

Yeah , the FORMER LEE WARMER voice could work really well ...

Or go all out and do a "PICK UP THE BONES" epic version ..

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute

As much as I enjoy "BECAUSE" , it's one of those tracks that I find a bit " underwhelming " , as he really only does the "ALICE talking / sort of singing" ..... And it's not exactly chock- full of lyrics ........ that's what crossed my mind when I saw ELEANOR RIGBY , thigh it's much more of a story-...

Re: Alice covers "Eleanor Rigby" on new McCartney Tribute

These projects are usually pretty pedestrian , and only rarely do they have much re- listen- ability ..... That's why something like KATE BUSH having a go at ROCKET MAN stands out from the crowd so much ... And also DWIGHT YOAKEM's version of THINGS WE SAID TO BE is also a benchmark in doing a cover...

Re: Dick Wagner Passes Away

Having bought his autobiography last year , I'd really grown to love ( and understand) Dick Wagner so much more ...... What a phenomenal guitar player ,and melodic & gutsy songwriter .... We've had 40 years of living with , and enjoying, those beautiful solos and riffs .....and they haven't dated on...

Re: ALICE Says Covers Album Features A 'Jaw-Dropping' Lineup

From an album that was much maligned by a lot of fans this could turn out to be a HUGE album in Alice's career. This could be a work of Shep's marketing genius. It touches all demographics and can appeal to a broad range of people. Also, it's selling songs that are already well known--an establishe...

Re: ALICE Says Covers Album Features A 'Jaw-Dropping' Lineup

>It's not exactly 'jaw dropping', Admittedly McCartney has been spreading himself about more in the last few years ( Sound City doc etc ) , but managing to get McCartney for an Alice album is about as jaw-dropping as it gets .... I certainly haven't shared the negative vibes about the covers album t...

Re: The BEST Alice Cooper song of all time!!!

This is near impossible, every time I read a new posting I think..yeah that one, no that one, no..... Ok the quiet room, sideshow, second coming. No I'm going for 'under my wheels' live from the Glasgow Apollo (B side of 'for Britain only) because I was there and it was the highlight of a truly mag...

Re: I guess Alice won't be including Sun Arise in the set

I agree...personally I like the song. if we deep sixed every song that had a moral judgment attached we'd be left with barry manilow and Donny Osmond songs only. Well Barry Manilow did start by playing piano in a male brothel. But he didn't even " WRITE THE SONGS" that he's singing about ...... And...

Re: Why was Trash such a big hit over the superior Hey Stoop

Just a thought - I wonder if HEY STOOPID would have had more of an impact if Alice's OWN drug-abuse problems were announced to the press to help promotion ? I realise that this part of Alice's private life was kept under wraps until Bernie Taupin forced the issue in SUPER DUPER , but maybe Shep miss...

Re: Alice Cooper Planning To Release Covers Album In Spring

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Billion Dollar Babies? (I think Generation Landslide is a cover... I can't remember but I do know Hello Hooray was a cover and a good one too!) With Generation Landslide containing some of the Coops finest , and most iconic , lyrics , maybe he should take i...

Re: Alice Cooper Planning To Release Covers Album In Spring

I have no idea why he is even making a covers album If W2MN had been a multi-platinum selling album , then I would understand your question ............but it wasn't . So , it's back to the drawing board for Alice/Shep/Ezrin ... With the career-resurrecting cover's albums by the likes of Rod Stewar...

Re: Blue Turk - What a Masterpiece!

Blue Turk is one of those tracks I always play to non-Alice fans .....It's never failed ...EVER !!........I think it's that bloody trombone solo - possibly the highlight of a track full of highlights .
