Nita Strauss Quits

Just read that Nita Strauss has quit Cooper's band. No reason given, as yet. I won't speculate. Wonder if that will have any repercussions for the forthcoming 'road' album? Perhaps Orianthi will be available for the next tranche of live shows!

Re: Touring band to feature on next album!

After Alice 'cleaned up' he lost that mysterious 'X' factor, which had consistently fueled the many creative tangents he explored on the Warners solo albums (well, except for Lacklustre & Lousy ). It was replaced, for the most part, by a competent, professional, ordinariness. The exception to this b...

Re: Touring band to feature on next album!

I wonder just how much the touring band will actually feature on the next album. Alice's constant flights of fancy mean that I take everything he says with a metaphorical large pinch of salt. You can be almost certain that if he states 'x' then it'll turn into 'y'. Look at the current UK tour where ...

Re: Eric McFadden Tribute

I wasn't going to bother with this, since 'tribute' albums are usually dire. But I gave it a listen on Spotify and was astonished at just how good it is. The song selections are wonderfully eclectic for starters. McFadden gives Hail To Hell a sort of overarching bare bones Americana feel. Crazy Litt...

Re: The last temptation with bonustracks

How odd. The Bad Reputation label are also releasing an Eric McFadden homage album to Alice Cooper in November. Entitled Hail To Hell - An Acoustic Tribute To Alice Cooper , the track listing is certainly eclectic! Welcome To My Nightmare Is It My Body Last Man On Earth Laughing At Me Crazy Little C...

Re: Titanic Overture

I love Pretties For You. I've always thought of it as a great psychedelic garage album akin to what The 13th Floor Elevators were producing. Titanic Overture is my favourite track! Nobody Likes Me is a fantastic song too.

Re: Michael Bruce's solo album in 1975

In My Own Way is a plodding pap-fest of nothingness. Think Captain & Tenille on a bad day; the scraps at the bottom of Eric Carmen's bin. Platinum God sounds like something Kiss tossed out with the trash. As for Battle Axe - it's lamer than Lazarus, in a karaoke Heavy Metal Kids kinda way. Three du...

Re: Detroit Stories #1 in Germany

Plummets down from #4 to #52 on UK chart. Still, better than Maximo Park who were at #2 last week - they've fallen out of the Top 100 altogether!

Late entry for debut position: #3 Austria.

I Hate You

In a recent interview you said that I Hate You was originally conceived - in the aftermath of Alice going solo - as a sort of general rant at 'others'. a) After all this time, what made you decide to offer it up for Detroit Stories ? b) Did you hand over just the 'idea' to Alice and Bob? Did anythin...

Re: Detroit Stories Review

Alice is on the front cover of the latest edition of UK music mag Vive Le Rock; in newsagents from today. There's a big article on the Detroit 'scene', a separate interview with AC, plus a full-page - 9/10 - review of Detroit Stories. (Mojo also, surprisingly, gave it a very good review.)

Re: Detroit Stories Review

The album's gone in at #2 on the UK midweek charts. There seems to have been a bigger promotional push for Detroit Stories than any of his albums since the '90s.

Re: Detroit Stories Review

Initial reaction was 'meh'. Subsequent (Spotify) listens have changed that so the 'good' - just about - shades the 'bad'. Rock & Roll and East Side Story are decent enough bookends; strut & garage rock pizzazz, respectively. $1000 High Heel Shoes is more doo-flop than wop. Sister Sledge are downrigh...

Sister Sledge. Sigh.
Yes, I noted that. Aren't they from Philadelphia? I liked their '70s singles, but what have they got to do with Detroit? Couldn't they at least have got somebody associated with Motown. Anyway the song stinks, and that's only the snippet!

Re: Detroit Stories Review

A few more reviews. The first one - printed in The Independent - calls the album 'a masterpiece'. Blimey! The others are rather more restrained. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/review-alice-cooper-loses-his-mind-in-detroit-rock-city-alice-cooper-mind-home-city-classic-rock-b1805785.html https://r...
