The Collector's Choice reissues : worth getting ?

Hi there. I'd like to know a bit about those reissues of SF/ZCS/DADA albums. Do they offer anything special ? Do they have great liner notes, rarely seen photos and such ? In short, are they worth getting for someone who already has them in their original US Warner Bros LP pressings ? Thanks for you...

Re: LITD vs. Killer

Asking me to make a choice between LITD and Killer would be like asking me to chose between my left arm and my right leg.... :rotfl: But I think I can at least say that : to me, they are Alice Cooper at their (and his) purest - if you guys see what I mean.... the hardcore, most meaningful Alice Coop...

Re: Your favorite LIVE album?

Without the shadow of a doubt, my favorite live recording from Alice, so far, is the 1971 Saint Louis Killler show. So fantastic I'm not sure I can put words on it. Just incredible, and the vinyl quality sound is unbelievable. I don't know for sure which other live shows I would put in second...

Re: 30th anniversary of DaDa today

I consider this the one and only avant-garde album by the great man. Having been a fan of Captain Beefheart for many years and who has produced some greats of similar ilk, DADA holds its own with any of these. Mmm, a comparison with Beefheart - interesting. I wouldn't have thought of it. That said,...

Re: 30th anniversary of DaDa today

Perhaps my favorite solo Alice album. I bought it in late 1988 if memory serves, and I loved it instantly. I always regretted he did not keep that direction and went heavy/hair metal instead. And about "Da Da" being too 'cerebral', I think it's a bit exagerrated.... I mean, come on, that's not a Rob...

Re: Paris TV Special 82

As always, and very unfortunately, it misses the section showing a live rendition of "who do you think we are" followed by a live version of "you're a movie" : this section appears only with the copy that has the swedish (or danish ?) subtitles during the songs, and happens between the interview and...

Re: A new book on Alice !

Hmmm, I guess not, since there are no pictures inside, just text all over 350 pages. The black & white photography on the cover is from the "From The Inside" front cover session. Great and easy reading, frequent humour, quick presentation of the three original "shock-rockers" that were Screaming Jay...

A new book on Alice !

For those of you who read French : "Alice Cooper - le parrain du shock-rock", by Eric Tessier, has just been released ("parrain" means "godfather") through the "Camion Blanc" edition series. To my knowledge, this is the first French book on Alice Cooper. Just received a copy of it today, sent and si...

Re: Special Forces

I don't like "You want it, you got" (really silly music I think). "Skeletons in the closet" is also silly but a bit better musically; apart from that I quite like all of the other tracks. It's my second favorite Alice album from the eighties - the first being DaDa. Great lyrics sometimes ("Don't tal...

I would just like to use this opportunity to pay a special tribute to my best friend of the last forty years, Gary Campbell, was sadly passed away last week. Re: Love It to Death - Manufactured by Capitol.?

Interesting. And puzzling, of course. I didn't know about that for LITD, but I happen to have a US copy of Killer that shows the same "Capitol case", with similar catalogue numbers on the labels. Check it out here : http://www.wenneberg.dk/AliceCooper/Undersider/LP/71killerUSA.html Jan Wenneberg has...

Re: Alice's saddest song?

"Pass the gun around", no contest. I really can't think of anything sadder, more tragic and sincere in Alice's catalogue. And I also think it's one of his most beautiful songs ever. With one of the most poignant guitar solos I heard so far, perfectly fitting the lyrics, voice and production. One of ...
