Re: Album opinion change

I originally loved Dragontown. Over time I realized that was because I loved Brutal Planet and Dragontown was more of the same. Now it mostly feels like bonus tracks from BP. I'm always surprised at how many people don't love ACAS. Yes, the concept gets a little schlocky at times, but that's Alice. ...

Re: Detroit Stories first song "Rock 'N' Roll" to be available Fri 11-13-20

On first listen I was underwhelmed but on replay I really like the way this track features the Detroit players - much more bass and drums than we've heard in a lot of Ezrin's recent stuff. Bonamassa is a great addition even it doesn't align with the Detroit angle. It's definitely more true to the Mi...

Re: Roots of Rock n Roll Intervew 1980

Not sure what you're asking. The interview was done in '80 but the concert footage is definitely late Killer or early School's Out era based on the costume/band. That was still the hanging phase.

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

Re, folks not getting into the deep catalog stuff, all I can say is, Oh well. One of my favorite recent set lists from the last tour started with Brutal Planet, then some hits and then went through Grim Facts, Lost in America, Serious, Fallen in Love, and Woman of Mass Distraction. I loved it. We ha...

Re: Small insight on the financials

You think Alice has been cutting his head off for 40 years because it's high art? No, he's delivering what fans want. That's how he got where he's at. Thirty years ago fans wanted rock star gods that were above the masses. Today fans what to feel like they have personal connection. Pay your money an...

Re: If Alice was to a return to a sound...

The obvious answer is the ACG era but as other's have mentioned I don't think you can recreate that. There was a chemistry and dynamic there that can't be recreated in hindsight. I loved what I think of as the Damnation trilogy (LT/BP/DT) and I think that could be done again. It's clearly a subject ...

Re: Small insight on the financials

BS. There have always been "meet and greets." In the past they were exclusively for local media and record company morons and their friends who exchanged rubbing elbows with celebrity for some positive spin on the show and maybe a few more plays on the radio. That sold tickets and records that made ...

Re: New 10” record

The production on the clips reminds me of the Alice Does Alice EP. Very stripped down. I suppose that's appropriate for a Detroit rock tribute.

She connects better with the fans than Orianthi did. Her energy and presence on stage is undeniable.
I'll give you that on Orianthi, she seemed to be in her own head most of the time while playing.

Musically I prefer Orianthi’s playing. More of a 70’s based sound. Shredding I’m not into.
Agreed 100%. Full respect for her talent but it's not my style.

Where are the samples?

Nice to see Wayne Kramer on it. The MC 5 were phenomenal live!

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

SPOILERS!!! During "Dead Babies", the giant baby didn't come out and attack Alice. The baby wound up coming out during School's Out. Same fashion, busting through the wall and seeming to have a good time instead of attacking Alice. The baby did mess with the band similar to how Franken Alice usuall...

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

Good oist but one thing that is not accurate is the fact Alice had some post original band hits with some ballads in the mid to late 70's. Clones was a minor hit in 1980, but Poison was not a minor hit it was MAJOR hit. Internationally speaking when you combine the entire world, Poison is actually ...

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

I think there maybe a stark contrast between the UK and US. The experience that I have had over the years between bartending/managing a bar and being on tour here in the U.S. is that 80s rock music died a hard death in 1991 as witnessed by all of those bands trying to take a usually darker, less ar...

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

Ironically the beloved metal era tune "Roses On White Lace" had Kip Winger and Kane Roberts as co-writers. Winger would go on to become the butt of many hair band jokes and Roberts may have done the same if he weren't such a parody of himself. Roberts was also one of the co-writers on that alleged "...

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

If it's true and "my stars" was dropped its a **** travesty. The one song EVERYONE was thrilled was added to the set is the song he decides to drop. Everyone? To be honest, "Bed of Nails" got a much bigger response live in Columbus. The response to "My Stars" was fairly flat. I'm not surprised, it'...

Agreed with the thoughts here. The last part of the song sounds like an actual relationship that has gone sour and not just a prostitute.

Re: SPECIAL FORCES

I'm a fan of these albums because I love that they so reflect Alice's sense of humor. Yeah, all together they're probably two really good albums. But there are some real gems on each one. I've taken to calling the Alice from this period "Crack Alice". I know, not exactly the same thing. But he's got...

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

I was thrilled when they announced an early solo tour date for Columbus. I'm not a fan of the double bills and I was excited to see one of the early dates of the new show. It looked like an excellent crowd in spite of thunderstorms in the area that produced a 20 minute downpour just prior to the sho...
