Re: Thoughts On And Ranking The New Album
Listening to Paranormal for the first time through in a while and all I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Anyone can say what they want, but for a 69 year old rockstar to release one of the - arguably - best solo albums of his career, that’s pretty big miracle. How can we ask for more?

Re: Am I The Only One Who Liked W2MN?
W2MN is a great album and I think why a lot of people give a snub is because it's compared to the first.......Don't!!!! look at it as it's own separate entity. That would be easier if it weren't for all of the musical tie-ins, like I am Made of You (which is literally made of the Steven melody), Ni...

Re: Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Edgar Winter North American T
Saw the show in Mansfield, Massachusetts last night. First of all, Edgar Winter was great. Super fun warm-up that got us really excited for the rest of the show. Alice and band were in top form. Everything sounded great, including WOMD and Paranoiac Personality. The truncated set and limited space o...

Re: WTF with Marc Maron Podcast (8/24)
Oh god yes. If any of you are not aware of Maron, he has a tendency to dig deep and pull much more humanity out of celebrities than they are usually willing to share. I'm sure this will be great.

Re: Parnormal Lyrics Help!!
Si mentioned that the lyrics on the CD are too tiny to read. They are plastered on the disk sleeves of the vinyl version. Assuming they are (mostly) accurate, I can take some hi-rez snaps of them and post them tonight if you like.

Re: Thoughts On And Ranking The New Album
Only bought the CD today-honest. HMV York and the guy behind the counter said the CD was flying off the shelves- I thought I had misheard him but No it apparently has been selling well - the shelves pretty well stocked too. Anyway, I am very entertained by this Album-there are a lot of influences o...

Re: Vinyl rip vs. 24-bit Studio Masters
I'm very tempted to buy the vinyl but my record player, while ok, isn't great and I play through a soundbar so I'm not sure the quality would be better. Anyone got any advice Can you plug headphones into your turntable/amplifier? A decent pair of headphones is all you need. Even on a not so great r...

Re: Vinyl rip vs. 24-bit Studio Masters
Another example of the issue. Here's a Spectral of 'Fireball' I did last night. First half is vinyl, the second half is direct from CD. http://www.sickthingsuk.co.uk/images/fireball.jpg For the uninitiated who know even less than me about "brickwalling"), while it might look like the first vinyl ha...

Re: Vinyl rip vs. 24-bit Studio Masters
I would be interested in sharing our results to compare what we've all captured, as this is really my first attempt at recording vinyl. I've had the equipment to do 24/96 recording but my turntable has been boxed up for the last 3 years. I very meticulously set the levels and recorded each side. Eve...

Vinyl rip vs. 24-bit Studio Masters
Hi all. I thought I'd share this. I ripped my vinyl today and under-laid the 24-bit studio tracks to align the start and stop points of each song, to splice the different takes of each side. Take a look at the difference in dynamic range between the vinyl and 24-bit version (presumably same as CD an...

Re: Happy paranormal day!!!
One other thing I noticed... Genuine American Girl has 3 Dada references. "No Man's Land" has been mentioned. Next time you listen, pay attention to Neal Smith's drum solo and go back and listen to I Love America. Probably not a coincidence that they share the word America; that would be the third r...

Re: Happy paranormal day!!!
Amazon promised delivery by 8 PM. My vinyl showed up at 7:41 PM. The driver threw it onto my top step like it was a newspaper. Off to a great start. My listening experience turned it around quick. Man it sounds great on vinyl. I think it has the quietest surface noise. It was utterly silent until th...

Re: Thoughts On And Ranking The New Album
Paranormal is a fair to midland, paint by numbers record that's heavy on the Christian undertones. I've noticed that too, but I think it works very well for the record, considering the title, and that many songs deal with characters facing down death or devils. The Nashville flavor makes the religi...

Re: Happy paranormal day!!!
I just did a quick comparison of Genuine American Girl in Audacity. http://imgur.com/a/8XRct The ProStudioMasters (top) does sound a tad cleaner to me than Spotify (bottom) from doing a side-by-side listen and seems to have a tiny bit more dynamic range. Spotify seems to have a slightly softer volu...

Re: Thoughts On And Ranking The New Album
The original Holy Water https://youtu.be/Wjq19_THqQ4 Why would they want to include a cover of this, instead of another ACG song? Whoa. Usually Coop reworks songs by artists that are not widely available on their own. He might have rewritten the lyrics, but this still qualifies as a cover. However,...

Live Talks Hour Long Convo/Interview between Alice and Shep
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWzVkitDKFE I'm not sure if this has been posted or if anyone here has seen this, but I stumbled upon this the other night and wanted to share. It's a promotion for Shep's book tour, in which Alice and Shep sit and talk in front of an audience for an hour. At the end ...

Re: Happy paranormal day!!!
One could easily sample a 44.1/24 source onto an 88.2/24 system and it'd be like drinking the same brand of water from a different glass - there'd be no real difference at all. Exactly. But it *could* be a different/better master. That's what I want to know. If it's just the CD then it's a waste of...

For those interested Pro Studio Masters offers a 88.2 kHz / 24-bit version of the Album. http://www.prostudiomasters.com/album/page/14375 Sounds really good. I was hoping it was going to lift some mud but to be honest I'm not sure I can hear too much difference from the MP3's I have. I wonder if th...

Re: Million Dollar Alice
What a strange coincidence that this story broke on the eve of the new album release...aye right! Shep Gordon is a genius in marketing. Yes! I have no doubt that you are both correct. It reminds me of the Hollywood Vampires popping up in the "Super Duper Alice Cooper" documentary. They were clearly...
