Re: Bowie

it was a pretty big statement back in the day. IMO Bowie was really good in the early days, Space Oddity, Man Who Stole The World,Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust, pretty good with Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs, then it all went to shit for a while, wow, that sounds familiar. Thinking back, Station To St...

Re: Bowie

When Bowie is good, he is really good. Love almost all THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD ("Width of a Circle", "All The Madmen", "Black Country Rock", "She Shook Me Cold" are my favorites) and also ZIGGY ("Moonage Daydream", "Starman", "Star", "Hang on to Yourself", "Ziggy Stardust" and"Suffragette City")....

Re: BDB. vs. Killer

Oh, Mr. Bluelegs...where are you taking me? What an unfair question! Still, as much as I love BDB, have to go with the masterpiece that is KILLER-it's just perfect. Raw and in your face, while BDB is just a little overproduced although still an essential album.

FLAT OUT

On the trip to work last night, had been digging through my wife's CD collection and found this, which was Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult's solo album from 1982. Played it and really not bad at all. Looked at the credits and was amazed to find Neal Smith has a song writing credit for the first song...

Re: Would you buy Alice on vinyl?

Indeed I would buy Alice on vinyl as long as it was not a "jo ripoffsky" price-I already have some AC vinyl from the 70s...and tuneylune you should have looked after your vinyl at parties as well as you care for your fine cat(see avatar).. How right you are! I hang my head in shame :( :( :( -still ...

Bought it when I was 14 ( in September/October 1976-??) and have pretty much loved it ever since.

The Alice Cooper album of the Day:LACE AND WHISKEY

Original 1982 review: This one was a slight improvement over ACGTH. All of Side One rocks except "Damned if You Do" and all of Side Two rots except for "Ubangi Stomp". There was no concept this time, Thank God and true to form there was a ballad finishing off Side One, "You and Me" which probably fi...

Re: Would you buy Alice on vinyl?

A new killer reissue seems to be listed for October 16th 2012. I hope its true and is a good reissue. One of those albums I've been waiting for to get a reissue. I have 2 versions on LP as is. Anther version could be good.... You intrigue me, Sir!!! Will there be any extras on it (true, we got lots...

Re: Bowie

I think Bowie gets more notice because he is an "artiste"-very serious all the time where Alice is more determined to be fun and thinks more of what the fans might want even if he's keeping himself interested-Bowie seems more interested in pleasing himself. Some good work by him, for sure, but not m...

Re: The Alice Cooper album of the Day: MUSCLE OF LOVE

Thanks very much for your kind words :) Was a Journalism major in College, but flunked out. Have done some writing for local papers and for a few fansites, notably CREEPYCLASSICS.COM (which mainly deals with older horror films), but nothing along AMUK lines. Just writing about things I love...

The Alice Cooper album of the Day: ALICE COOPER GOES TO HELL

Original 1982 review: True to its title, Alice is brought down to Hell, terrorized by a Satan who claims "I'm The Coolest" and finds when he sings a pretty song, the Devil can't stand it and sends Alice packing to "My own room, all the mess, all the dirty laundry" to his relief. As you may have gues...

Re: Damned if you do

Interesting post, Recoop-I like LAW more than I did then in 1977 as it just wasn't heavy enough for me then, although I thought Alice's vocal was kind of funny-sounded like he was trying so hard to explain and was running out of breath! Lemmy WOULD do a good cover of this as it does fit him-he is wh...

The Alice Cooper album of the Day: MUSCLE OF LOVE

Original 1982 Review: This was the first album the Coopers did when they were successful that mostly...died. Maybe because there were no killers/psychopaths on it except for "Crazy Little Child", a total waste of vinyl and time. Before its release, Alice had stated he didn't want to make another alb...

Re: Man V Food

I remember seeing this one! My wife and daughter were really into this for awhile, but I had to stop watching as it almost became an excuse for gluttony -it practically made me ill watching him try to eat some of the things he did; and I like my food too!

Re: Could Alice ever be blamed for violence or murder?

Good points by everyone here..lest anyone forget, it's only rock and roll...or a movie...or a game...or a comic...etc. If someone's "Cheese has slipped off the cracker" (I remember hearing this from my Southern relatives when I was little), it was all ready to slip from the get go. Some people are j...

Re: The hockey game

Thanks, you Guys! I have the book also and it does look like the band left the hotel to get to the show promptly, in fact, it looks like they left a little early as they got mixed up with arriving traffic and had trouble finding parking for the limos. As for me, I DON'T like it when a band is late d...

The Alice Cooper album of the Day: DADA

This is one of these albums I've had to tackle over and over as it is so "out there" and it doesn't "rock". After some really thorough listening, this is almost a sequel to FROM THE INSIDE as it's full of references to alcohol (the shots in "Pass The Gun Around" could be Stoli that is needed in the ...

The hockey game

Was poking through the history section of STUK homepage and there is a mention of the MOL Toledo show that was cut short, due to the crowd throwing debris at the stage. There is a recollection from someone who mentions the crowds hostility being due to the long wait because Alice was watching a hock...

Re: A question about the RYFAY tour

Thanks for all your help, everyone.Although he was sneaky and devious as a youngster, I do love him and how jealous I was he was able to spend New Years Day with Alice, although looking back, I would have probably sold my ticket to get some sleep as my daughter was always up (Babies seem to do that)...
