Re: Albums As Works of Art

A side note about this: when I made the switch to CDs back in the '80s, I discovered after a while that I no longer knew the names of all of the songs on most albums. I used to know every title from every album because I spent hours and hours looking at the album cover, studying the album cover, me...

Re: Phil X talks about and demonstrates some of his guitar playing on the Brutal Planet album

If Alice was there I am sure he would have went "yeah i like it lets use it". The fact he was not there, had he not liked it, I am sure he would asked for it to be redone....However it was recorded it is one of his stongest solo albums imo. Pretty sure a lot of band record like that, Motley Crue co...

Re: Songs where Alice may have crossed the line

A song like Dead Babies is an anti child abuse song Is it really? I know Alice said it was in the Prime Cuts documentary but I’m not convinced and never really have been. It sounds more like a plain shock tactic than a message song and the anti abuse sentiment was just Alice’s spin afterwards . Obv...

Re: Songs where Alice may have crossed the line

the song is problematic to me because I feel that Alice himself may have regrets about the song. I doubt he has too many regrets over a song of which he professes not to have any memory. I don’t think Alice has crossed any lines in music. He pushed boundaries in the early days sure but that was a w...

Where is there profanity in "enough's enough"?
Exactly! There’s no profanity. It’s “go buck and buck and make a buck”. It’s not only printed in the lyrics it’s also been confirmed by Dick Wagner in an interview that these were the actual lyrics”

Re: Michael Bruce's solo album in 1975

To show how far the other guys went to help out Glen he was also given a songwriting credit on a few tracks on both B$B and MOL. I'm sure his family is collecting royalties to this day thanks to Alice and the other guys For the two songs on B$B that he received credit “Elected “ was a rehash of “Re...

Dennis I have to say that your book is one of my favorite rock’s roll biographies. I’ve yet to hear the audiobook and I’ll do that as soon as I get a chance to. I really enjoyed every minute of it.

Glen’s luney fuzz

I’ve always loved Glen’s fuzz sound on Luney Tune. I’ve often over the years wondered which fuzz pedal he used. Of course I realise now he could have just been plugged directly into the desk overdriving the preamp. Do you know? Also I loved his fuzz tone on Easy Action , it sounds almost sub octavey...

Re: Alice Cooper in the 70’s Book

Am I right in thinking that the choral sound that happens at about 5:11 is a Melotron? Is that the strings? I think that’s real strings, I actually have a real Mellotron as well and I used to think it might be before but I’m pretty sure it’s not. I’m trying to think of a word to describe how the me...

Re: Alice Cooper in the 70’s Book

I have a Minimoog myself and I’ve always assumed that these parts were real strings and brass because that’s what they sound like. I’ve certainly never been able to create such realistic imitations of real instruments on the mini. Also Bob is credited with String and Brass arrangements on the Lp as...

Alice Cooper in the 70’s Book

Hi Dennis I’ve just started reading this book and whilst I’m enjoying it there’s a couple of things in the section about Killer which I think either I or the author might have gotten wrong. The book states that the Strings on Halo of Flies, Be My Lover and the brass on Dead Babies was Bob Ezrin on t...

We thought it would be a good idea to drink it before we recorded, but the tempo fluctuation on the song says different.
Ha! I always thought that was because of the dodgy bootleg pressing I had!

Re: easy action

Hi Dennis a few questions on Easy Action i bought this record as my third ACG record ( BDB and LITD being the first ones). It was only until much later I found out that Michael Bruce sang on Beautiful Fly Away : was there a specific reason for this and am I correct that this happened only once ? a ...

I have so many questions. I’ll start with the lamest one… If any, and of those you’re familiar with, which is your favori...
