Radio Scotland interview

Just a heads up. Alice is the main guest on Billy Sloanes radio show this Saturday evening on BBC radio Scotland. Sloane is a huge Alice fan so this should be good

Re: Slow Growing Albums

Brutal planet was the one for me. I hated that industrial metal sound. It was such a departure from the last temptation. I bought the BP vinyl a couple of years ago and it really came to life for me. Every couple of years I dig out Dragontown and ACAS but I still think they are appalling. Detroit st...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

I really Don't understand the antipathy towards Detroit stories. For some context, I first got into Alice with greatest hits followed by BDB and then the blackout albums. To me DS has some great rockers like social debris as well as some left field tracks which all the great Alice albums have. Some ...

Re: Hollywood Vampires Question

I would like to add that while the last two Alice tours have been superb the set list has been pretty stagnant for years so I am more than happy to see him doing something completely different once in a while.

Re: Hollywood Vampires Question

I have to agree with Del. I have seen them twice now and they are a great live band. The Glasgow gig was packed with a wide range of audience. I personally like the covers. It means that the audience members who aren't Alice or Aerosmith fans still know the majority of songs. Lots of youngsters arou...

Re: The new expanded KILLER and SCHOOL's OUT

I really struggled to justify buying these as I already have both on original vinyl with calendar and panties. However a night on the vino persuaded me to visit the amazon fairy. First of all the packaging is superb. The extensive notes are great. The sound quality is brilliant. The alma mater and e...

Re: Decades - Chris Sutton's New Book on Alice in the 80s

Finished the book. I absolutely loved it. 85-89 are probably my least favourite Alice period but the behind the scene insights are fascinating. A lot of eye opening interviews. I would thoroughly recommend this book. It will now get pride of place as my 'toilet ' book so that I can dip back into it ...

Re: Decades - Chris Sutton's New Book on Alice in the 80s

I'm just starting the metal years but found the black out years fascinating and well researched. The different visions for special forces from fred Mandela, who wanted the guitars pushed further up in the mix; and Polodor who pushed the keyboard and synthetic to the fore, is fascinating. Also the in...

I had thought the screen but not too sure that Alice would be able to jump through it the way he used to. More likely is the cyclops.

The book arrived this morning. Excellent package with some amazing pictures. So far my only complaint is that there is only 2 pages given to the early eighties.

Re: 2023 hopes and dreams

I am really hoping that one of the two albums is the OGs. I doubt very much that it will be though. If it was going to happen then breadcrumbs would have been the ideal opportunity. If anything like that comes along I imagine it will be an extended version of the last three albums with the OGs playi...

Re: Breadcrumbs

I played it to death when it came out but felt a bit cheated that most of the tracks were on Detroit stories and haven't played it since, which i probably should as I thought 'devil with a blue dress on' was fantastic.

One change at Leeds last night - out went 'Shut Up and Rock' to be replaced by 'Be My Lover'.
Result!
I thought shut up and rock worked really well. I love 'be my lover' but was more than happy to see some fresh songs brought in.

Re: Setlist

I was at Glasgow last night. I thought the show was higher energy than 2019, perhaps down to it being slightly shorter. The whole devils food musical interlude was shorter. Perhaps Alice needed less of a break. The new stuff works really well. I thought the setlist was really well chosen. Missed cre...
