Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

The challenge is audience reach and, like it or not, the answer is streaming and therefore algorithms, specifically the recommendations or selections they make to listeners based on either a single song’s streaming profile or the changing streaming profile of the artist. In many ways recommendation ...

Re: Slow Growing Albums

Killer and Love It To Death. I got School's Out an was in love with it. Christmas that year I got LITD and Killer. They both took about 4 or 5 plays. I really didn't know too much about music at that time. I was 12-13 years old and had two albums: Slade Alive and Bolan Boogie. Once I started to get...

Re: Alice says he had nothing to do with "Killer" and "School's Out" remasters

Thanks Si, I was starting to type a much weaker version of your post. Looking to next year, IF the ACG album comes out and IF a film/drama comes out about the group that would surely be the time for a plan to align and capitalise on both with ACG appearances, specials etc. That would be the time to ...

Re: Hollywood Vampires 2023

Two quotes from the KRPM review Si put on the News page. Probably sums up all the HV shows I’ve seen so far. “Part of what makes you feel like you are watching something truly special is the idea that The Hollywood Vampires show shouldn’t really work. There is not one song they play that absolutely ...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

I’m now waiting patiently until I get my copy before I listen to anything else. To me, it’s already better than DS so it’s heading in the right direction.

Here’s another review.

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

Good to read your pitch Pitkin but have to say you haven’t come across that way to me or others recently hence my responses. The difference between our likes of the music probably isn’t massive but it our attitude is. Time for my story I think. I came in with Schools Out. SO, Killer and B$B are the ...

Re: Michael Bruce inducted into Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame

Isn't the album done, so it's kinda pointless throwing ideas about the guitarist? We'll see what they went with. I really hope it's a great album. Not many bands have been able to pull one off for a reunion, mostly they have been terrible disappointments, but I hope these guys can. Not only would i...

Re: Michael Bruce inducted into Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame

I'm apprehensive. None of the recent OG stuff did much for me. I'd hate to see an OK album prove that the really good stuff ran dry with BDB. Good luck to them though, and with the possible TV drama as well I can see some decent publicity potential building. I suppose its now or never - hope it work...

Re: Hollywood Vampires Question

Agree, it's the package not just JD. They need each other to create the great dynamic they had on stage and that's a big part of what will draw people back again. I genuinely dont think that JD brought most of the crowd to the gigs I was at, particularly Glasgow. Yes, JD gets the press publicity but...

Re: Hollywood Vampires Question

I’ve been thinking about this slightly differently. This gives Alice and Joe, Alice particularly, a chance to do something different and to a different and possibly larger audience. At this point in Alice’s career why not have some fun and just see where it goes? Not many folk in the last years of t...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

So, running score on feedback seems to be 10 positive 1 ? and 3 negative. Not bad going so far.
I’m another one who can’t see the metal at all and am keen to hear the album now.

A little bit of Beasto on a few tracks would be great.

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

Only listened once so far but it’s fine with me. Very accessible. Never listened to Warrant so didn’t see the link. Two simple choruses so far and a bit more grit in this one.

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

It's a strange thing getting older with your favourite artist. My older uncle is a Kinks and Small Faces fan. He firmly believes that Ray Davis' music stopped being any good after the Village Green album. If he ever talks about the Kinks it's as though they ceased to exist as worthwhile in 68. He al...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

I've listened to the song around 5 times and it's just not memorable. I gave it a fair shake. It's nothing to do with being generational. What a cop out comment. I think I can tell what is a good song and this is just average. I have never listened to anything he has done solo with the mind set of ...

Re: Hollywood Vampires 2023

Yep, a great gig and great to see the banter between the group. It clearly is a group now and is building its own fanbase judging from some of the folk round us on Wednesday.

Should they continue doing covers? Yes, its the foundation the whole thing is built on and the crowd love it.

Met Toni Iommi in a hotel in Edinburgh about five years ago. Really nice and polite guy. Assuming there will be no special guests in Glasgow but will see what happens in a few hours time.

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

Think we’ve maybe got another generational thing here. I’m still on a 7/10 but my son’s mates were partying in London last weekend. Most aren’t rock fans but loved it. My sons observation - “if you don’t know Alice you’ve got no baggage. Great singalong once played a couple of times and folk started...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

They've been playing Road Rats in the lead up to the start of the HV gigs. I loved the original but it's of its time. A reworking would hopefully sharpen it up.
