Re: Vampires Who's Laughing Now?
Initial thoughts on the song are pretty positive. I really like the fuzzy guitar tone, punchy drums and vocals. Excited to hear some more.

Re: Live At The Whisky A Go Go 24th July 1968 (Aka 1969)
This period is fascinating to me. I love hearing the band raw and unpolished. There are some great moments on Easy Action, the hint of theatricality to come on Still No Air, the Sabbath style riff in Lay Down and Die, Goodbye. Shoe Salesman is a very sweet song.

Re: Why Was Alice's Voice Buried?
I think this is simply a mixing decision. I've read accounts of Alice not being a very good state during the sessions. I'd imagine his vocal was simply not strong enough to push it high in the mix, hence why they've double/triple tracked it and soaked it in backing vocals and reverb.

Re: Alice Coopergroup - Record Store Day release
Received my copy today and it looks great. The only thing that slightly concerns me is receiving an email from Chris asking to transfer $38 for shipping. That seems massively excessive to me. I send vinyls from the UK to the states all the time and it doesn't cost half that. For some reason Postage...

Re: 4 new albums announced
Danny Saber was and is still known as a remix guy. Greg being a rock guy should have at least been able to get some good sounding tones, but it all just sounds rather cheap and demo quality. Yep, spot on. The album sounds like a bunch of pre production demos to me. Programmed or sampled drums, synt...

Re: Sorry,....Hollywood Vampires....
I like the current band for Alice. They have the (relative) youth and experience to keep the energy level high and I certainly don't think they overplay things. This is 2018 and doing it the old way would have killed the career years ago imo. While I loved the old band last year I felt it was just e...

Re: From the Inside
From The Inside would make for a great deluxe cd package. Retain all the cool packaging features, give it a faithful remaster and find some decent live tracks from the tour. I'd buy it.

Re: Ryan Roxie: "This is Alice's most cohesive band"
I always thought the lineup Alice had when I saw him in the 97 and 98 shows at the Astoria was actually very good. Reb Beech rarely gets much credit but I remember being really impressed by his tightness, tone and groove.

Re: I still think Paranormal is mediocre........
I like the 2 ACG tracks and Fireball a lot. Private Public Breakdown and Sound of A also have a good groove. The rest is pretty average to good. I agree that the production is way too slick. I wish Ezrin would back off the compression and autotune. Overall, it is generally better than W2MN, however ...

I agree that the production on Eyes is pretty harsh. But it does kind of suit the music somewhat. Eyes is a very fine record.

Re: Wembley Gig- how did it go?
I was at the final london show. First off, I thought the show itself was great. Really slick and some nice song selections. It was great to hear Pain and The World Needs Guts. I had issues like Si. I really don't understand having an all seater venue and then everyone just stands up. I felt really s...

Re: Glen’s secret harmonics on schools out
The main riff does bare a striking resemblance to the original, particularly with the vibrato which gets missed or done incorrectly by many guitarists. I can only assume those harmonics were buried or omitted from the final mix. It's quite common for ideas like these to be layered in the recording p...

Re: Thoughts On And Ranking The New Album
For me, the only tracks that I don't have much time for are Paranormal and Holy Water. Paranormal had the potential to be fantastic but it feels like they shoe-horned in sections that don't work by using some really jarring tempo changes. Shame, because the main riff is epic. Holy Water just doesn't...

Spot on. I think that's a really intelligent tune. I love the fuzzy guitars and laid back vocals.padre_sliprat wrote:PPB was the first song from the album I fell in love with.wind_up_toy wrote:I personally thought Private Public Breakdown and Dynamite Road were the only real weak links on the album.
