Re: Covers
As far as the original group goes, I don't think any of the albums that didn't have them would have benefited from the addition of covers, with the possible exception of Muscle of Love. Maybe including some song they all loved, perhaps even beating Aerosmith to the punch with Train Kept A-Rollin', w...

Re: Alice on Top of the Pops
I remember Tony Blackburn having a very brief chat to Alice, re Elected , on the 9th November '72 show. Following the Mary Whitehouse/Leo Abse furore - tabloid hysteria & double page spreads of BDB's mascara baby - TOTP (and Radio One) gave the subsequent singles short shrift. Despite them all clim...

Re: Alice on Top of the Pops
No Pan's People then. Outrageous. I don't know that for sure. The "Disc" means they played the record, sometimes with dancers, sometimes over credits or the chart rundown maybe? I have no info on if that was the case for any of the Alice listed as "disc". Very good point. They surely can't all have...

Alice on Top of the Pops
I was looking at a database (not sure how accurate it is) of Top of the Pops performances and under Alice there are no fewer than 14 appearances listed for the seventies. 7 for School's Out in 1972 (including one on the Christmas show) 3 for Elected in 1972 1 for Hello Hurray in 1973 2 for No More M...

Re: Suzi Q.
Just listened to it there. Slight bit of confusion when Suzi asked Alice if he'd heard her version of I Never Cry and he got it into his head she'd said Only Women Bleed. This led to him saying the usual stuff about it becoming a female anthem and the number of women that had covered it (Only Women ...

Re: Under My Wheels - Twist and Shout Ending
I seem to have accidentally misled people with the way I worded the original post. I'm not talking about Alice covering Twist and Shout, only the ending of it being appropriated as the finish of Under My Wheels. The ascending "aah-aah-aah" vocal bit etc for the final few seconds.

Re: Grand Finale credits
I always found it a disappointing way to end the album. Although it's a challenge to rearrange the track listing to make it any different. Plus you'd need another song. Since No More Mr Nice Guy was apparently available for this album but not used, it would be tempting to slot that in after My Stars...

Re: Experiencing Alice Cooper - Ian Chapman Book
I looked through a bunch of pressings on Discogs and non deviate from the release we are familiar with. I'm not sure if NZ is or was big enough to do their own pressings. Guessing a lot of albums there would have been imports. I think he might have got mixed up. I now see what he's done! He's liste...

Experiencing Alice Cooper - Ian Chapman Book
Part of the 'Listener's Companion' series, I finally read through this. Not too bad, although some of his takes on songs are a little surprising. The thing that really sticks out most though is the track listing he has for Special Forces. What's that all about? It's not as if it can be some kind of ...

Under My Wheels - Twist and Shout Ending
I was talking with a friend the other day about the live versions that had this ending. My memory ain't great though and I was struggling to be precise on the tours/years in which this was the case. Can anybody with a better memory than mine remind me on which tours it was used? It would save me lis...

Re: Welcome To My Nightmare: Fifty Years of Alice Cooper
I've just read this and find myself in the weird situation that I might recommend it to people in spite of the many flaws. It's a beast of a book alright, with plenty of interesting photos and some decent quotes. I won't bother listing all of the issues I have with it but suffice to say reading this...

Re: Alice Unplugged
The unplugged sessions seemed to evolve into little more than acoustic guitars through amps with everything else - bass, keyboards, drums, whatever - pretty much standard, so I don't think the sound would have to be radically different. I actually like this idea, as a variation on the Nightmare Spec...

Re: Glasgow Apollo, February 19th, 1982.
It was a truly great gig. The version of Under My Wheels that night is probably still my all-time highlight from any occasion I've ever seen Alice. Not everybody loved it though. I well remember some loud guy shouting at the top of his voice as the auditorium emptied at the end, "Six quid! For that?...

Re: Goes To Hell album cover
The thing that has surprised me most in relation to that image was the t-shirt that Michael Bruce was selling at his gigs, around 1992 I think. I caught him in Edinburgh on his short UK tour (he played in a club immediately after Alice had finished his set at the Playhouse) and the merchandise inclu...

Australian Press Conference 1997
I can't see any previous mention of this on here, apologies if I've missed it. Nothing too unusual, although he does pass up an opportunity to go into the chicken story again, which is rare to say the least! He also mentions the then recent death of Princess Diana. From roughly 13 to 20 minutes, it'...

Re: New song and video "Don't give up" coming!
Bit disappointing to see the pre-orders pop up on ebay for a profit and on FB fan pages folk are complaining they cant get one. I know it is not Alice's fault or the Alice camp at fault but it sucks that genuine fans are being scalped for vinyl, sometimes the internet can be a pain in the ass. I'd ...

I'm really enjoying these. The Michael Monroe one is a hoot.
