Re: What is 1 Original Band Song and 1 Solo Song You Would Like Added

ACG - I Love The Dead The whole song; sung by Alice himself.

Solo - Big Boots That'd put the musical cat among the pigeons.

Re: Favourite opening line

Poetry in motion:
She struts into the room, well I don't know her
But with a magnifying glance I just sort of look her over.

Runner up:
I love the dead before they're cold
Their blueing flesh for me to hold.

Re: Best and Weakest releases by decade

All choices are albums, unless stated otherwise. 60s Best - Not a great deal of choice! However, Pretties For You is a great garage-psych album; whichever decade. 70s Best - Killer. It's Alice Cooper DNA. Grand Guignol on steroids. The Coopers plug straight into death row, holding a dark mirror up t...

Re: "Road" - Reviews

I liked the vast majority of Road from the start. And subsequent plays have turned into liking it all. There's a certain cartoonish pop-glam stomp to it, akin to ACAS (which I love as well). I've not enjoyed many Cooper albums post-Warners but this is a real keeper. What profoundly puzzles me though...

Re: "Road" - Reviews

I don't consider Road a 'failure' at all. Indeed, for me, it's Cooper's most enjoyable album since Brutal Planet . Stoopid, catchy, and back to basics - The Ramones built an entire career on that - it's a hoot. Simplistic lyrics? Well, so what; some of the best pop songs ever have those. And that's w...

Re: Road in the charts

I really like the album, but if Alice can't be bothered to play even one song from it whilst actually on the Road - at the very time of release & with the very people who it was designed around - then he deserves a North American chart flop. I find the disconnect quite astonishing. He muddies the wa...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

Road new entry charts, so far:

#2 Germany
#8 UK
#17 Finland
#19 Australia
#24 Sweden
#39 Norway

Apart from Germany & UK those are disappointing chart positions. (On physical copies sold Alice is at #3 in UK.)

Re: Rank All of Alice's Studio Albums Based on Your Preference

Looking back, I did this nine years ago. My rankings have changed somewhat since then! As of today; top to bottom: 5 Stars 1. Killer 2. School's Out 3. Love It To Death 4. Billion Dollar Babies 5. Brutal Planet 6. Welcome To My Nightmare 7. Dada 4 Stars 8. Pretties For You 9. From The Inside 10. Flu...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

I held out little hope for Road . I was wrong. It's a cartoon-like, bubblegum rock, pinhead blast. Homer Simpson-meets-Spinal Tap. Whoo Hoo & turn it all the way up to eleven. Lyrically, in parts, it's supremely stoopid; and 'offensive'. But then isn't that the whole point of Alice? As AC/DC almost ...

Re: "Road" - Reviews

Neil McCormick gives Road plenty of slaps in The Telegraph . Headline: Alice Cooper scrapes the barrel with macho clichés and misogyny. Ouch! As it's often paywalled, here's a taste: How listeners respond may depend on how they feel about a gnarly septuagenarian carrying on like a priapic adolescent...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

Mojo gives Road a surprisingly glowing review. The reviewer calls it "a hugely enjoyable hoot" with Alice "one part P.T.Barnum, one part Shakespearean luvvie, and two-parts raspy, grizzled, gadabout." Four stars.

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

I quite liked Welcome To The Show . The band get a chance to rock out, Alice actually sings, and there's a glam stomp about it. I quite liked the patchwork quilt opener, I'm Alice , as well. But, 'quite' isn't really good enough, is it. As for White Line Cherry Pie , the lyrics are so cringe-inducin...

Re: “Road,” August 25, 2023

White Line Frankenstein Puts the 'under' into 'whelming'. A reheated slice of Warrant's Cherry Pie , with some widdly widdly guitar nonsense. As with I'm Alice , Cooper speak-sings the (lamer than Lazarus) verses. At least with the opener, Ezrin's patchwork quilt approach creates a bit of interest....

Re: I'm Alice

Listened half a dozen times. It resembles Paranormal (song) in being something of a patchwork quilt, and unsure what it really wants to be. Alice's lyrics are topnotch, though his delivery is rather matter of fact in places. The short chorus is memorable; the rest of the song not so much. Cooper's s...

The album artwork looks fab. Another Frankenstein song?!! And there are 'guests': Kane Roberts; Tom Morello; Keith Nelson (Buckcherry); Wayne Kramer. Sigh. Hopefully no covers.

Re: The Alice Cooper album of the Day: ALONG CAME A SPIDER

Well, I've always loved it. Indeed, nowadays, it's one of only three post-Warners studio albums that I own (the others being TLT & BP ). ACAS has some great retro glam stomp; all the songs are catchy; and there's a genuine cohesive feel to the storyline. Plus there's an Alice signature sound to the ...

Re: Your Favorite Alice album rankings from 2000 to Present

1. Brutal Planet His best ever solo album IMO. Fire & brimstone finger-pointing never sounded so epic. 2. ACAS This gets a lot of flak, but I loved it from the start and still do. All songs are memorable, and there's an underlying glam stomp throughout. Production-wise I much prefer 'amateurish' ove...
