Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

While I'm loving the album, I'm in total agreement about the disappointing sleeve. In fact, I'm now thoroughly sick of my friends asking, "How's the packaging?" as they anticipate me telling them of something that's actually of any interest. I guess Alice's aversion to how he looked back then disco...

Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

Yep, sound quality is excellent. I did a compare and contrast with the For Britain Only EP last night and would say this is cleaner. If I'm an absolute completionist then the only bits that didn't make it are the chants of "Alice, Alice" which were frequent on the night but didn't all make it to the...

Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

The quality is superb. I recently got the bootleg version (how is that for timing) that was from the radio Clyde recording. This has obviously been cleaned up but they have kept a good portion of the amazing atmosphere that was there that night. The level of musicianship is incredible. What a band....

£32 for me.. I was at Mixed-Up records in the West End. They had asked for copies of Dirty Diamonds but didn't get any allocated.

Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

Success! Second person in the queue when I got there at 7am. Only three copies on sale at the shop I went to in Glasgow and five of the first six folk in the queue were there for Alice. Absolutely nothing special about the cover and nothing in the way of inner sleeve notes etc. Having said that, it ...

Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

Anyone got any idea how many copies are being distributed in the UK? Spoke to the last store in Glasgow this morning and they think its a "very small number". although they are hoping for 10.

Re: Live at Glasgow '82 - 2lp RSD 20202

Went down to my local store in the west end of Glasgow last week to be told they were getting the grand total of two copies of the album and have numerous people enquiring already. They also told me that two other shops in Glasgow were getting 5 copies or less. There is only another shop in the Glas...

Re: Alice Songs You Like More Than Most Other Fans Do

I think Flatline is the best thing from WTMN2 and Pretty Ballerina is the best song on Dirty Diamonds. Can't disagree on WTMN2, lot's of hype & vids to match but, weak in expressing (& continuing) the concept. DD is hit & miss. For me, a handful of songs that I like. Pretty Ballerina is one of them...

Re: Alice Songs You Like More Than Most Other Fans Do

What about these?

Novocaine was an instant like for me and I know I’m probably in a minority liking Detroit City 2020 way more than the original.

Going Home, Success Story and Perfect all worked their way into the back of my mind over the years and are firm favourites.

Re: Alice on Top of the Pops

TOTP 13 July 1972 is where it started for me. The Who, Hawkwind and Alice Cooper just blew me away. In the next couple of weeks we had Bowie and Starman then Mott the Hoople with All the Young Dudes. What a month. Alice flipped a switch for me though, Hawkwind too but less so. To be in England... R...

Re: Suzi Q.

Oh my God is that is horrible. Chinn and Chapman were amazing when you think about all the hits they wrote. Agree, and then when you include their later work together and then independently, particularly Mike Chapman's own major hits with Blondie, Tina Turner, Pat Benetar and others it really is im...

Re: New song and video "Don't give up" coming!

I've not played it for a few weeks now but my son (28) says he plays it a lot and has got a few of his friends into it as well. They like the attitude. Strangely, none are rock fans. Maybe if it had got airplay it may have had a chance..

Re: Glasgow Apollo, February 19th, 1982.

Hello, I have been an Alice fan since I first heard him when I was 13 years old. The first time I seen him live was at the legendary Glasgow Apollo show in February 1982, which I will be buying on vinyl as soon as its available, and it was awesome. Best atmosphere I have ever experienced at a gig a...

Re: Old School Uncool

Artistically only Michael made an earnest attempt to move on in his own direction and he failed. You listen to his solo compositions and you wonder if it is really the same guy who wrote “Caught in a Dream”. Collectively, with Alice Cooper they had some chemistry. Individually, even in their prime ...

Re: Old School Uncool

Iwhat are they supposed to sing about instead of girls? Dentures wheelchairs and Viagra? I don't find it any more weird than all the old school rockers in their 60's and 70's singing about their generation breaking free. Paranormal and even W2MNM2 are good answers to your question imo. Couldn't agr...

Re: Old School Uncool

Dennis and Reggies track was uncomfortable to listen to. Didn't enjoy it at all despite trying hard. Michael's sample tracks left me completely cold and Born Screamer should never have happened. Appreciate that it's trying to capture an era but Neal's album cover caps a bad sequence for me. If I was...

Re: New song and video "Don't give up" coming!

Thanks Padre and Patrick too for your earlier comment. I'm also wondering when the band video clips were filmed for Dont Give Up. Given that Chuck was sporting a full beard during his interview with Roxie a few weeks ago it's either been filmed very last minute with Chuck taking the beard off for it...
