Re: Is anyone home ?

Such a great song. Alice delving into Beatlesque pop rock with jangly guitars, strings, tremeloed guitar, etc... Sounds like something Mike Bruce would have co-written with Alice. I always wished he would have explored that style further.

Re: Flush the Fashion 40th Anniversary

Some information here helps clear up the Shenandoah point. https://rockonworkshop.wordpress.com/2012/02/04/ro-special-birthday-edition-alice-cooper-and-david-carron/ Great link. Like Mr. Barlow said, had no idea Davey Johnstone suggested the song to Alice. I always just assumed RT Baker brought it ...

Re: Flush the Fashion 40th Anniversary

Daggers and Contracts wrote "...this was is a breath of fresh air by RTB just to push into the next track & the next to keep it interesting." I agree, that was a brilliant idea to not have any gaps of silence between the songs. A complete aural assault of great tunes one after another. This was also...

I love that line too! Another favorite of mine is also off of Zipper in "No Baloney Homosapians" when Alice refers to "the blood and gutty human race".

Yes! Great line.

Re: Flush the Fashion 40th Anniversary

Mr. Barlow- Good point on the pre-Internet mystique of an artist. Most reviews weren't published until after an album was released and often times minimal prepublicity unless you searched Circus, Creem, or any other rock publication. So, in many cases an album appeared which was always a great treat...

Re: Flush the Fashion 40th Anniversary

Enjoying all the great responses. Pitkin88- I agree, Warners did drop the ball on promoting Clones. Could've been a top ten hit, perfect for the times, still a classic. Tuneylune- great description, "lean & mean." Babysquid- Break out the album and crank it up! Saint&Sinner- Wish there was a box set...

Flush the Fashion 40th Anniversary

It's hard to believe FTF will be 40 years' old in 2020. I bought it the day it came out and immediately loved it. Admittedly, I was surprised by the complete reinvention of Alice (I loved From the Inside and saw the incredible Madhouse Rocks tour) but felt it was so cool that he changed his image an...

Re: Best engineered album?

It's crazy isn't it. I record in a little practise room in my house and I have 16 channel inputs and get semi good sound quality/recordings. I think in the 80's my studio/practise room would have cost tens of thousands, and now I use it to tinker around in for fun! Love it. Great explanation Mr.Blu...

Re: Best engineered album?

Mr Bluelegs that is the best explanation I have read! Thanks. Glad it helped. I like your explanation myself. I've been there setting up the mikes, especially on the drums etc. But, w/o the input of the Band, the engineer has very little direction except from his ears. I would hope that this ...

Re: Best engineered album?

Can someone explain me in understandable language what is the difference between : Producer - engineer - mastering/mixer etc. I thought Ezrin did it all. In a nutshell, the engineer sets up the microphones and is mostly concerned with trying to achieve a good recorded sound on an instrument or voca...

Re: I LOVE AMERICA. THE LAST WARNER BROTHERS 45!

A friend owned a record store at the time and this album just seemed to ship with no prepublicity. I immediately loved it like the rest of the blackout albums. It was obvious Warners was done with Alice. Imagine if this album had somehow become a moderate success (top 30 or better and selling over 2...

Re: Best engineered album?

To clarify my intent of the tread, I was mostly looking at the sonic/aural quality of the albums which relies more on the engineers than the producer. The producer does definitely factor in to the equation as does the mastering. The producer most likely accepts or rejects the sounds that the enginee...

Best engineered album?

From an audio standpoint, Alice has had some excellent engineers in the studio through the years. A few observations; BDB album sounds fantastic, some have complained of too much reverb, but I think it's great. Killer sounds great, too. Goes to Hell is engineered very well, maybe a bit too much reve...

Re: From the Inside

When I attended a show on the Madhouse Rock Tour, (row 7, just right of dead center) they did not play WTMN. The show was 70 minutes and there was a song played which none of those who were with me recognized. All of us owned every AC record and knew every track by heart. The song in question was a...

From the Inside

With the 40th anniversary of FTI coming up this year, it would be fabulous if it was given a remastered release with bonus tracks. As some claim that the CD is virtually over, many of these reissues on CD sound phenomenal, e.g.- McCartney's reissues. Of course it's highly unlikely to happen, but who...

Re: Alice As Herod

Mr. Barlow stated- "I'd donate both kidneys to have been able to see the Special Forces live show. It was the brief period Alice surpassed the energy of the original band. To me that was Alice at his most best and most dangerous. The black and white show on YouTube should be released commercially. T...

Re: Goes To Hell........

My take on GTH- Side 1 works great for me. Wouldn't change a thing. For Side 2, I'd definetly replace "Give the Kid a Break" and "Chasing Rainbows" with two solid rockers. "Give the Kid..." seems like his first foray into his humorous/ silly side of songwriting. Just doesn't work for me. Some amazin...

Re: New album sales

I honestly thought it would debut higher than 32. I'd bet that 32 will be its peak position since the entire industry has changed and it's rare to see an album "climb" the charts these days. I'm sure someone posted (and I missed) the USA sales. If I'm not mistaken, didn't W2MN debut in the top 20?

Re: No more (love at ur conveveince)

To quote SI, "While he certainly shed fans from WTMN onwards, I think the real fall was Flush the Fashion, the change of image and sound, and the complete lack of promotion from Warners who didn`t care anymore and were just sitting out the contract. Sure, FTF has it's moments, but it doesn`t sound ...
