Re: Chris Sutton book

+1 for really enjoying the book. Only up to Love It to Death track by track, and can't wait to get stuck into the classics.

As above, this also made me revisit Pretties for You, but only because I realised I could barely remember how some of the songs sounded.

In the UK: #3 on the physical album chart - https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/physical-albums-chart/ #3 on the sales chart - https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/albums-sales-chart/ (I'm assuming this is CD/vinyl/digital combined) #6 on the vinyl chart - https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/vi...

Only Women Bleed - full version not available digitally?

Apologies if this has been brought up before, I did do a search (although couldn't get advanced search to work) and didn't see anything. I've been listening to music via Spotify a lot more recently as my iPod has died and my CDs are in storage. I've noticed that "Only Women Bleed" is only available ...

Re: Touring band to feature on next album!

Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I'm sure Alice said something along the lines of 'recording in the venues we're playing at', but I took that to mean at soundchecks or something. Can't help but feel that if the plan was to record during the live show, it'd have been phrased differently.

Re: Detroit Stories Review

Yeah that's the first thing I thought when I heard it. The skittish energy, vocal delivery and group shouts in the chorus remind me of the early '80s material.

Re: Detroit Stories Review

Does the solo in "Shut Up and Rock" remind anyone else of the solo "Steal That Car"? As soon as I heard it I thought it sounded pretty similar.

Re: Touring band to feature on next album!

That whole meeting was hilarious.

Think Alice also mentioned the songs could be about being on the road. We can have songs about things like everyone rooming as far away from Glen as possible.

Re: Detroit Stories Review

^ I agree that the Breadcrumbs tracks sounded better on the EP. Are they the same recordings or have they been reworked a little? I think it's a good album. Still early days but probably on par with Paranormal . Early highlights at the moment for me are "Independence Dave" (get a little bit of an ea...

Re: Alice Songs You Like More Than Most Other Fans Do

Loads of great songs already mentioned. Some I haven't seen yet: Six Hours - I love how subdued it is, evokes a really desolate sort of vibe, before exploding into the amazing solo at the end. My God - has a grandiose feel, plus some superb lead work. Love Should Never Feel Like This - nice, melodic...

Wasn't there mention of a Desmond Child album featuring Alice a few years ago? Did anything ever come of that?

Phil X talking about contributing to Brutal Planet

Did a search and didn't see anything about this. Just stumbled across a video on Youtube of Phil X (current playing guitar with Bon Jovi) talking about doing session work on Brutal Planet . He goes through some of the stuff he played on the title track and "Eat Some More". https://www.youtube.com/wa...

Re: biblical touch

I think The Last Temptation is his best solo album, and behind only School's Out in the overall canon. I love that sinister, creepy undercurrent it has. Very strong both musically and lyrically. Brutal Planet I'm less keen on. I do like a lot of the songs, but I'm not a big fan of how stiff and mech...

Re: New song and video "Don't give up" coming!

Eh, I like it for what it is. I did wonder how the lyrics would flow without sounding so clumsy, but didn't think of a conversational sort of delivery. Not unlike "Sanctuary" or "I'm Alive" (to a lesser extent). Instrumentally reminds me of "Pick Up the Bones" (as was already mentioned).

This is one of my favourites off From the Inside. I'd like it to be played again, and paired off with "Sunset Babies".

Re: ‘Ol black eyes is back Tour

I went to the Manchester and Birmingham shows. Both fantastic of course, and managed to snag front row for both which was incredible. I think I preferred the Manc show as it was first, but Brum probably had slightly better sound. Chris Wyse did a good job filling in for Chuck, but lacked the energy ...

Wow, if that setlist is legit, some wonderful surprises. And no ballad either... how often (if ever) has that happened since Alice starting recording them consistently in the 70s?

Re: 4 new albums announced

Some quotes from Alice about the new solo album from a recent AZcentral article. Seems it may be another concept album (can't recall if that's been brought up before). "There’s about four or five songs already written," he says. "I worked with Bob Ezrin in Nashville the last couple of weeks on a cou...

I got block B row A for Manchester and Birmingham. I take it this is front row for both unless they do row AA etc?
