Re: Bowie

According to Mick Ronson [who's favorite glam track was ACs Be My Lover] Bowie was obsessed by Iggy Pop ! Alice was great during the 70s as was Bowie ,but without any shadow of doubt Bowie was considered to be the most outrageous , I'd say Alice was the first to make it so Bowie had to out outrage A...

Flush The Fashion +Dada ?

Just Picked Flush The Fashion up on Cd and it sounds better than it ever did on vinyl, is it really that bad or is it just not what people expect from their favorite ghoul  ? I also picked Dada up, and I love it ! never had or indeed heard it before :smack: ! Also picked up Zipper Catches Sk...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

My only regret is that Bowie never did an album with Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter ,because Alice aside Berlin by Lou Reed is a particular favorite of mine !

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

When I think about it I'm richer for owning albums by both Bowie and Alice and I wouldn't want to be without any of them . Perhaps a new topic might be better but I've just fell in love with Kiss,I saw them years ago 75 or 76 ? Free Trade Hall Manchester and I know they're up there with Bowie as riv...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

Bowie's artistic peek Aladdin-Sane ?lets put it from a Bowie fans perspective for me there are only two weak albums from the 70s Space Oddity + Lodger and that's subjective ! ironically Bowie's most successful album by far is for me one of his weaker ones Lets Dance ? As a Fan of Bowie had I to choo...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

Alice's persona [he's behind you ] is great ! but try explaining Bowie's ,thinking about it I suppose [he's behind you ]was even scarier than Alice ?

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

If the truth be known Bowie is more original in his Ziggy guise because its like nothing seen before ! Alice is great but other people had done similar acts before ,granted Alice perfected his act ! I'm pretty sure Bowie has had tons more success with hit singles and records in general , I'd guess A...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

Perhaps Bowie might have heard about Cooper being The Nazz ? Bowie always had his fingers on the pulse ,would we have heard of the Velvets or Iggy if Bowie hadn't championed them early on I doubt it ? [well perhaps The Velvets due to the Warhol conection ? ] Mick Ronson seemed to think that Bowie wa...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

If you think back to the 73 Ziggy tour Bowie had a Feather Boa apparently a nod to Alice's snake ! Bowie went to the final date on Alice's Killer tour with Iggy Pop and Mick Rock [Bowie's Photographer ]Rock later commented in 1994 that after that show Bowie really got the taste to do something more ...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

All those Glam acts like Slade and Gary Glitter were massive sellers because nobody really took them too serious ,they were fun acts !

Bowie was a lot more serious and taken as such by the media at that time ,I'd guess Bowie out sold em all in the end ?

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

What people don't really know is that Bowie was trying out all kinds of different looks during the 60s pre-Space Oddity ,he was in a band called Riot Squad that wore stage makeup and involved whipping/flogging :) and some of those mime shows he did with L. Kemp looked pretty risque ,Bowie tends to f...

Re: This 'Bowie' thing.

In Mick Rocks book Bowie mentions Alice Cooper as being in the same vein theatrically as Screaming Lord Sutch but with strong songs !as a kid I was into Alice first and Bowie second ,I think Bowie's use of his Bisexual statement was to out do Alice Cooper in the outrage stakes ! and it worked becaus...

Re: AC with Bowie ?

Ok I guess that when Bowie made it big with the Ziggy character he may have felt that people saw him as being similar to Alice i.e. makeup and outrage etc, but really if you think about it Bowie then spent the rest of the seventies trying to ditch that look , and Bowie's strength as a star has alway...

Re: AC with Bowie ?

Hi all , I was wrong :smack: apparently its Si Litvinoff who was a producer of the film The Man Who Fell To Earth ,I just thought it looked like Alice !i m o hence the question mark . I've never seen a pic of Bowie and Alice together !is there one ? I doubt that Bowie even gives Alice a second thoug...
