Re: Alice Songs You Like More Than Most Other Fans Do

I would pick Crazy Little Child, which I've always considered to be one of the better songs on MOL.

Re: Slash interview re: Alice's snakes

In his book Billion Dollar Baby, Bob Greene details how at the end of the BDB Holiday Tour, the Member of the ACG's Road Crew who was responsible for Alice's snake at the time managed to 'sneak' the reptile onto the commercial flight as carry-on luggage. Mr. Greene also recounted in the book how ear...

Re: Grand Finale credits

Although, I can imagine how some fans might have been thrown off a bit. It was indeed quite a departure, not only this track but the album in general, given the style of the two previous albums. But they definitely had this part in them too. Just listened to SO last night, love this album! M...

Re: Old School Uncool

The reason there is such a difference in the writing from these guys from the original group and after is Bob Ezrin. I too agree to a certain degree re. Bob's influence on the ACG in terms of songwriting and production. He wasn't involved with the Battle Axe album which I consider to be great in qu...

Re: Old School Uncool

Out of the original band solo records "Battle Axe" is my favorite that I still listen to quite a bit. More than any other solos. I haven't heard Neal's new release yet, but taking into account everything I have heard from the ACG's solo endeavours I certainly agree with the above comment. IMHO only...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

^^ Thank you for your post, Si. I was just repeating what I'd read elsewhere when I posted about WTMN being the last album in the ACG's contract. It doesn't really seem plausible to me anyway. Hopefully AMUK will chime in if he has any further insight re. which was the final album in the Original Gr...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

if there were no further obligations for the band with Warner Brothers why did Alice have to find a loophole to record WTMN on Atlantic? Obliviously they were still under contract with Warner Brothers. But either way the result is the same. Well, I'm not certain that Alice did or had to find a loop...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

Yes, it was the sound track for a television special and that was the loophole in the contract that allow Alice to record an Album on a different label. Seeing that the WTMN album was a success that embolden Alice and management to cut ties and go solo. Later all members of the group received a con...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

Battle Axe were song written with the hope or expectation that Alice would eventually participate and polish up the lyrics. Without Alice and Bob that is what the band was capable of. As a teenager I could listen to it, but it does not hold up well 40 years later. The music was about as threatening...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

True, but writing credits don't tell the whole story. Even the band have said the credits of the ACG albums aren't very accurate, for example Glen should have got more credits then he did. Not having a credit doesn't mean someone had no input on how the finished song sounds. Exactly. Dennis provide...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

From Pretties For You to Greatest Hits, I love every one of the original group's albums. My reasoning for believing MOL was more a Michael album was that MB had butted heads with Ezrin during MOL sessions, which tells me that the project meant a lot to him...that and there weren't any macabre songs...

Re: Have you changed your mind?

MOL really should have been MB's first solo album. My two cents' worth. Although I consider MOL to be far superior to Michael Bruce's solo album (In My Own Way), I believe the ACG's last studio album stands much better as a Group album than as a potential solo release. The songs on MOL while a depa...

Whatever it is you will find out about it here without signing up. How long has the Schools Out reissue been completed now?
I wasn't aware that the SO reissue had been completed but it's no surprise as it (and another unnamed ACG album) was announced to be in the works in early 2017.

Re: B$B outtakes/demo's/rehearsels etc.

I remember buying a tape in the eighties claiming it was B$B outtakes with 2 versions of every song. Well it was the Quad lp with Ch1&2 and Ch 3&4. I actually didn't mind because I didn't have the quad lp and there were significant differences in many of the songs. I bought a 2 LP boot. in 1990 whi...

Re: B$B outtakes/demo's/rehearsels etc.

A few BDB outtakes were released on the Rhino/WB 2 CD deluxe edition of that album: 1. Son of Billion Dollar Babies (aka Generation Landslide) 2. Slick Black Limousine (originally released on a NME flexidisk in Feb. 1973). 3. Coal Black Model T (an earlier version of SBL). AMUK has stated elsewhere ...

Re: Analyzing & The Meaning Of Lyrics & Songs

^^ Interesting observations. Thanks for your insight. My 1st guess would be that the song is about a woman too. It's probably my least favourite song on the album but I think it's quite good overall.

I agree with no.2 re. the 'you can pull my leg or anything' line.

Re: SLICK BLACK LIMOUSINE

My thread has been pretty much taken over which sometimes happens... To Mr Barlows point, I don't think Glen fell behind as the music got a little more complex. I think he just gave up! Whether it was the clashing with Ezrin or his health or both only Glen really knows and he ain't talking. I was l...

Re: Analyzing & The Meaning Of Lyrics & Songs

One song which fans have sometimes wondered what it is about is Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

To me it could be about a Refugee with Alice portraying the 'Savior' of that person. I know that others elsewhere have found deeper/different interpretations of what the song could be about.
