Editorial - Issue 8 (April 1985)

It's been quite a while since issue 7, so a quick thanks to you all for your patience as you waited (eagerly I hope) for this new issue. Unfortunatly, a few have seen fit to complain at the increase in price and while this is regretable, the threat of a further rise can't be ruled out. What has made things worse is that it has come to my attention that one or two of you are photo-copying the fanzine and selling it to other readers. I'm more than a little disturbed at this revelation and apart from anything else, it deprives me of a sustained readership. Also, photocopying the fanzine is VERY naughty. I have an idea who is responsible...

As far as 'Alice News' goes, we're all awaiting difinite news of an album or tour. Alice has now been 'off the road' for three years (his longest absence) and the gap between albums since 'DaDa' is now the same as the gap between 'From The Inside' and 'Flush The Fashion'. In the meantime, we are offered a diet of the most banel and bland offerings from the likes of Paul Young and Alison Moyet and those who can be said to be Alices' 'illegitimate offspring' such as Twisted Sister and others, go from strength to strength. At least Dee Snider continues to sing Alices' praises at every opportunity and is said to have presented Alice with a platinum disc for the mega-sales of the last Twisted Sister album. Good for you Dee, But....

Some of you have become aware of an album which is said to have been recorded in 1972 containing some of the tracks featuring Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson and the 'original 'Billion Dollar Babies''. It all sounded as if at last the now famous 'London Superstar Jam Session' had come to light. Well, don't hold your breath since it seems to nothing more than a scam to sell Mike Bruces' solo album 'Rock Rolls On'! A balatant and right-royal rip-off. I hope too many of you did not waste your money?? It seems as though it's now advantagous to cash-in on Alices' name...

Now an Obituary: Angel, Alices' reptillian co-star of the last eight years, died recently. Along with Kachina, she was Alices' most famous Constrictor. She was well-known for her 'star-quality' and her adament refusal to eat the plebian rats that Alice would serve her, insisting on the finist mink with Dom Perignon 1957 (chilled) from the south side of the valley. On her first TV appearance, she upstaged Alice on 'The Tonight Show' by wrapping herself around a microphone cord. Following the 'Special Forces' tour of 1982, she retired to Connecticut where she became the darling of the social set by hosting Tupperware parties and snakewear showssssss...

THE THINGS THEY SAY

"Alice Cooper are the most stupid, disgusting asppect of Rock Music today." (Lou Reed 1972)

"In 1973, I thought Alice was neat, necrophilia and allthat stuff. But then he told everyone that he was Straight and that dissapointed me!" (Joey Ramone 1985)

"We promise that by 1980, we'll be totally irrelavent." (Alice Cooper 1970)
