Paranormal Released

Well, in case you missed it (how??) 'Paranormal' was officially released today and is currently at the #1 spot on Amazon in the US which can`t be bad. EarMusic have released a short video announcing the release, which interestingly features a few seconds of the original band reunion in Nashville.

Alice was live on facebook in Stockholm yesterday and you can see the video here. There's also new interviews at Consequence Of Sound, WRIF, Forbes, WCSX, Audioboom, Paste Magazine, Virgin Radio (Italy), Radio X, and WROR.
On top of that there are the reviews at The Guardian, AV Club, Consequence Of Sound, Wall of Sound, PlattenTests (German), and Rock Sins.

Ultimate Classic Rock has an article telling the story behind 'Trash' in 1989.

The new 'Sweden Rock' magazine has an article about 'Paranormal'.

According to something host Johnnie Walker apparently said on his Radio 2 show the other day, Alice will be on the show in a couple of weeks, followed by a "radio special" in about six weeks. No more info on this yet but one to watch for.

Shout Factory will be releasing 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band', the infamous 1978 movie which features Alice singing 'Because', on Spetember 26th on DVD, possibly for the first time?

News Roundup

'Paranoiac Personality' received it's first live performance at the Tromso show on Friday slotting in near the end of the show and by all accounts sounded great. Alice has promised a few more 'surprises' on the next leg of shows so lets hope it happens.

Meanwhile on their days off the band have been busy playing a couple of club shows. They played the Hard Rock Cafe in Oslo, Norway on Sunday night (review here) and play Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg tonight! Unfortunately I didn`t know until this morning as facebook isn`t playing nice at the moment...
UPDATE: Alice himself joined the band at 'Sticky Fingers' for a few songs including 'No More Mr Nice Guy', and 'School's Out'.

EarMusic have posted two new videos in the last couple of days. The first is a 11 minute sampling of clips from the new album, while the second is a nine minute interview with Alice talking about it.

The news about Alice's Andy Warhol print discover seems to have gone viral. The ArtNet link I posted a few days ago is the main source though so I won`t link every other report that's has shown up since!

Midlandmetalheads have a look at the five Alice Cooper albums people may have missed.

With the album just a few days away there have been more interviews and reviews showing up so I'm just going to list them before I miss something.
The new 'Mojo' Magazine in the UK has an interview as do the Sherbrook Times, The Creative Independent, and 94.7 WCSX (Audio).
Album reviews can be seen at: The Washington PostSlant Magazine, Paste Magazine, RockSins, MetalInside (Swiss), Polyprisma (German), and PowerMetal (German). More are sure to follow of course.

'The Nightmare' Arrives On DVD

In the last few weeks various japanese sites have been surfacing with listings for a new DVD featuring the 1975 'Welcome To My Nightmare' live concert film. While this in itself wouldn`t be that exciting (it's been released several times over the years), what IS exciting with these listings is that they said it will come with the first DVD release of 'The Nightmare' TV Special, something we've been asking for for years! Well, it now seems to be official, and the DVD will get a worldwide release on September 8th!
'The Nightmare' is the original 1975 TV show companion to Alice's first solo album, and features slightly different versions of all the songs from the album, plus 'Ballad Of Dwight Fry', along with guest appearances by horror legend Vincent Price throughout. A VHS tape of the show was officially released in the early 80s but quickly vanished again, so up until now the only way of seeing it was either bootleg copies or on Youtube. There's no information yet as any other details about this release, including whether it will have Alice and Brian Nelson's classic commentary for the live film that was originally only available on the US Rhino version of the concert film, or how much work has been done to improve sound or picture, but the simple fact it's finally being released should be exciting enough!

A while back Neal Smith obtained the remains of one of Glen Buxton's classic Gibson SG guitars, and together with ex-Dennis Dunaway Project guitarist Rick Tedesco they decided to try and restore the classic axe to playable condition. Today's press

Thursday's press launch has resulted in various short mentions in the UK and world press. Most consist of simply pulling short quotes out from the Q&A but a few are a little more interesting. One worth talking about is from 'The Sun' who have taken a few comments Alice made about politics, and added a completely frabricated context which wasn't mentioned or suggested in what he actually said during the Q&A. They headline the short report with "Alice Cooper hits out at Glastonbury for bringing politics to the Pyramid Stage following Jeremy Corbyn’s speech". Alice didn't mentioned Glastonbury or Corbyn at all while explaining his often repeated opinion that rock and roll and politics shouldn't mix. As previously, he explained that going to a rock show should be about escaping normal everyday issues like politics, and just having fun. The Glastonbury context is completely false and simply made up by the writer, presumably looking to push their own agenda. As usual, don't believe all you read, especially in The Sun!
Yesterday Alice turned up at the Silver Clef Awards in London. Chieftain have a short video from the red carpet and lots of photos from the event are appearing on facebook and elsewhere.

Alice is scheduled to appear on BBC Radio 4 show 'Loose Ends' today at around 6.15. It should be available to 'listen again' shortly afterwards.

PennyBlackMusic have an excellent, long interview with Cindy Smith Dunaway which includes lots of background to her involvement with the early days of the band. Well worth reading.
You can also now watch the video version of 'The Rocker Dad' podcast interview with her husband Dennis Dunaway on YouTube.

The Guardian have followed up their recent webchat with Alice, by reprinting an old article from way back in 1972. Unfortunately they also have a mid-80s photo accompanying it... Still, it's the thought that counts!
